Fog

Mega Express Five ferry, LivornoWe can guess a day like this from the distant sound of the foghorns blowing at intervals, but it is always strange to watch a huge bright yellow ferry slowly materializing from indistinctness.Foggy harbor, LivornoIt was almost midday and the worst was gone, but the atmosphere was still a bit unreal.Ferry, pilot boat, Canaviglia bastion and Mastio di Matilde, LivornoEven shooting toward land, from the Capitaneria pier, it was hard to get the usual sharpness and details.

Used to hear foghorns in Tidewater...I've lived inland so long I've almost forgotten what they sound like...so insistent, so mournful!
Photos very nice...particularly like the yellow ferry dissolving into the mist (at the top)!

@ Theanne - The ferry is not 'dissolving' but 'appearing', because she is entering the port backward, as usual.

Feels as large as humankind can become, nature still owns the last word.

Great pictures indeed. Please have a good new week ahead.

I like all of these shots, VP. Fog can give great effects, but I haven't trained myself yet to go out seeking great images when it is foggy. I like yours.

The fog add a note of mistery to the massive ferry. It makes me wander what distant shores awaits it. I like that lighthouse too.

Moody pictures are the best.
That ferry is truly mega.
Your weather reached us today. Rain and the temps dropped by 16 degrees, down to 13.

Nice images! I can nearly hear the sounds from the activities you have captured so well in these photos.

I love foggy mornings along the coast. They create wonderful opportunities for photography. I especially like this series of images. I can imagine the muffled sound of the fog horn and the boat motors.

Il traghetto...che razza di nave rumorosissima! Però queste foto lo mostrano in un tranquillo giorno di mare mosso. Ciao, ARianna!
