“Via della Madonna” crosses the canal and enter the quarter of New Venice through the “Ponte di San Giovanni” (St John's Bridge). We have already seen the story of St John Nepomucene, whose statue stands in the middle of the bridge. In the first image the bridge is seen from the “Scali del Pesce”, while the second and the third pictures are taken from the “Ponte dell'Angiolo” (Angel's Bridge), the next stop in our tour.Behind the left part of the “Ponte di San Giovanni” we can see the turret on top of the “Palazzo Comunale” (Town Hall).

An apartment with a canal view. I could get used to that!
ReplyDeleteThe reflections in your second photograph are gorgeous, VP.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on turning the century in your side-bar.
I love this bridge with its graceful arch and its fine reflections. Congratulations on your 100 followers!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy these photos of your city; especially the canals. There's something about water!
ReplyDeleteThe second shot's my favorite, though with the statue reflecting alongside other reflections!
I agree with Jacob, it's wonderful to see the canals and bridges. Livorno is beautiful. And that's 101 followers!
ReplyDeleteWOW! It's so weird that it's already tomorrow there! (I mean, I understand, but it stills eeems strange!)
ReplyDeleteThese are nice. I love the bottom one with the boats all lined up--they a re all nice.
Beautiful reflection shots and a very dramatic sky in the first picture.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. I like your third image the most. I like the reflection on the canal.
ReplyDeleteStanding like he is in Prague. These are lovely photos of a lovely bridge, the second one is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe reflections on both photos enhance the images. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Venice got to be so well known for its canals when it's clear that Livorno also has may beautiful waterways!
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful shots. Do people actually use those boats? There doesn't seem to be much activity on them.
ReplyDeleteMore of your famous bridge pictures! These are very nice and I love the reflections.
ReplyDelete@ Stine - We love our city, but Venice is absolutely in another league for art, history and charm.
ReplyDelete@ B SQUARED - Most of them go at sea only during summer and for the weekend.
Art and history I can understand. Charm - well, I suppose that's in the eye of the beholder. I still haven't forgotten the smell of polluted water there on my most recent visit in November. So I'd suggest Livorno is approaching that league! (But why choose when we can have two nice cities to visit?)
ReplyDeleteQuite picturesque! I like bridges, they always have a lot of stories to tell!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar

All your bridges have such beautiful names. I like seeing bridges over water, they are always peaceful and remind us that life flows on.
ReplyDeleteLovely reflections too.
