You probably remember the exterior of “
Santa Caterina”, not one of the best church façades you have ever seen.

A few days ago I sneaked inside to shoot quickly some photos. There was not so much light and I was trying to push my camera on benches and against columns in search of some stability.

The results are not technically perfect, but I hope that you will appreciate how beautiful and rich is the interior of this church.

I'll try to repeat my intrusion but, as I already wrote, it is not easy to gain access to the city churches outside the time of mass.

I always appreciate your photos and they turned out great.
ReplyDeleteWhat you have is breathtaking and does indeed give us a peek into the splendor of the church.
ReplyDeleteFine details!!!

Belle foto.
Buona domenica a voi!
Thank You, as always You rise my morale. Unfortunately, i had to borrow my Sony, and i took kinda crap pics in the wild. The header is one of my favorite i ever took :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a rich subject this church makes. You've done a fine job of taking us in for a look around. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou did very well in the low light...in fact, these are wonderful shots and do show up the ornate beauty of the structure...
ReplyDeleteWhy do they restrict access outside of Mass times?
Super job. Thanks, VP!
'Do not judge a book by its cover' definitely applies to this church. The interiors are fabulous! And I love trompe l'oeil when it's as well done as this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sneaking in the photos!
Heavenly photos! O my God, the church is beautiful inside! Wish I could visit it during a worship service! Kind regards from "Birthday Boy" at EAGAN daily photo
ReplyDeleteChe bella chiesa. And excellent shots, no stability problems! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great glimpse of a treaure.
ReplyDeleteI once tried to take pictures inside the Cathedra of my city but was not allowed.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great move and they look nice.
gorgeous photos of a special place. very well done.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos! Absolutely splendid church!
ReplyDeleteWell done! Don't they offer any "visitor's hours" at all? Any inner city church here would be open to the public on most days.
ReplyDeleteThe church interior is beautiful and there is a lot to photograph.
ReplyDeleteDo you own a monopod? They are inexpensive, unobtrusive, and can really help give stability to your camera in low-light situations when you don't want to, or cannot, use flash.
What a beautiful church. I know the feeling of being in such a marvallous place and not being able to photograph it. I refuse to use a flash in a holy place, so I often dial up the ISO and live with the noise.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you snuck in. These photos are great.
ReplyDeleteThe light is intriguing in that last shot. A case of selective sunlight, methinks.
ReplyDeleteWow! Fantastic!
