After few months of works,
the other half of
Piazza del Municipio is taking shape: here they were transplanting four huge palm trees. These photos were taken in mid September, the square is now complete and we will see it soon.
I keep missing the fascination of our city with this kind of trees, already present in the part of the square
refurbished a few years ago.

Those palm trees must be really big to require such a large crane!
ReplyDeleteWow! That one HECK of a potted plant.
ReplyDeleteI love the square. It will look fantastic when done. Palm trees have a special pull - perhaps because they symbolize tropical warmth and breezes. Ocala is right on the edge of palm tree weather. Some can stand colder weather but others can't. Three big trees froze in our yard before we bought the house.
ReplyDeleteMany criticized our mayor for recently spending thousands to line the entrance road to town with rows of tall palms.
ReplyDeleteBut your four will be just enough and add lots to the piazza, I think. Glad you got the historic pictures of the cranes in action.
I find it exotic to see trees like these .....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! I think the palms will look great.
ReplyDeleteThe four palm trees will add that tropical touch, looks good when they put in mature trees to start with, instant result!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the amount of work to move a palm tree. The square looks great.
ReplyDeleteI hear there a palms in Ireland too. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole lot of work!
ReplyDeletePalm trees always seem so exotic to us northeners!
