The Japanese Bridge

Studio Bonsai Livorno, Via Cecconi, Livorno
When I visited the lovely garden of the Studio Bonsai this was my favorite place: an artificial small pond with an unpainted soribashi bridge.

The pond has water lilies, fishes, and even a small artificial fall.

  11. It is lovely. I visited Monet's house in Giverny last week and was struck by seeing the large number of Japanese woodcuts hanging on the walls. It helped me to appreciate how much he and other Impressionists were affected by Japanese sensibilities, including bridges like that and waterlilies.
