The project around the Dogana d'acqua goes beyond encasing the rebuilt structure in glass: another completely new building is taking form on its right: here is the Via del Cedro (Citron Street) facade.
One of the strangest things about this wing of the complex is that they will soon re-dig a large water basin just in front of it. The basin was once part of the Canale dei Navicelli and was interred when the waterway fell in disuse.

The complex looks like it has potential.
ReplyDeleteKind of plain looking.
ReplyDeleteWork in progress!
ReplyDeleteI bet the view from the windows will be lovely once the water basin is dug!
ReplyDeleteI agree with EG. I bet the view will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe water will look great there!
ReplyDeleteLet's wait until this is finished. As it is, it looks rather bland and uninspiring...
ReplyDeleteYes, that's quite ironic, putting the water back after it was filled in.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished VP.. it'll either be brilliant or a disaster.. I suppose it could be somewhere in-between :)
