Dina and Dino

Stolpersteine, stumbling blocks, remembering Dina Bona Attal and Dino Bueno, Livorno
A few days ago two Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) have been placed in Via della Coroncina, where once lived the 44-year-old Dina Bona Attal and her 21-year-old son Dino Bueno. They were arrested near Lucca in December 1943 and both died in Auschwitz.

  3. Particularly poignant considering what's happening in France now. Surely we will not go down that path again.

  7. Me being Dina and my grandson named Dean, your post really jumped out at me, VP.

Heard on the radio that some Stolpersteine were badly vandalized somewhere in Europe a few days ago. Maybe "in honor" of today's International Holocaust Remembrance Day?

  9. Stolpersteine are a beautiful way of remembering and also of explaining to kids... And perfect post for today. If only 1919 and 1933 hadn't happened...

  10. It is a shame that memorials like this are needed. Man's inhumanity to man.
