One of the eyesores of Livorno, sitting just next to the “
Parterre”, is the former Pirelli factory.

While part of the compound, the administrative offices, are now used by several non-profit organizations, the once busy sheds were practically let to rot for years.

Part of the L-shaped structure is used for some kind of storage, but the rest is almost crumbling.

I heard that there is a project to transform this space in an archive or a library of sorts but, in the meantime, nature is taking over.

I do hope this building finds a new purpose. It looks quite interesting.
ReplyDeletePirelli made tires, right? Haven't heard of them in years.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast Mother Nature can bring a structure down when it is left alone...but it's always sad to see something like this go to rot.
VP, it is so sad to see these buildings go into such terrible conditions. Sadly we have our fare share here in DC.
ReplyDeleteA museum would be a good idea as well.
ReplyDeleteSomehow this building felt "in peace with itself" to me. Please have you all a good Friday.

VP these are amazing. I love the first photo. The colors are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting that buildings that can be considered eyesores often make fantastic photos! The top and the bottom photos are perfect examples of this.
ReplyDeleteThe big windows will give lots of light if it becomes a library.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile it is fascinating to look into the building as it is and has become.
The stones on the pallet are nice.
Quite an interesting looking building. I hope some project comes along to restore it---but to what. Very sad. MB
ReplyDeleteEyesore is the word but it's interesting to photograph. So where are my tyres produced now?
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity to see so huge place abandoned.I love your last picture, it's very artistic!
ReplyDeleteHugs

It's too bad they have let this structure go to rot. I am sure it could be used for something constructive. But it will take some $$ now to get it into shape.
ReplyDeleteThe factory can be an eyesore but it eventually makes for great pics like the one you posted on top.
ReplyDeleteA library sounds nice! Although I like how the nature is creeping along the walls as well :-)
ReplyDeleteHope it will be transformed soon. It has great potential, and it's always a great pity when such beautiful (ok, I'm Silesian and for me the industrial architecture is specia!)structures decay!
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is great.
@ ciel - The factory was known as Pirelli but, for what I know, they only made cables here.
ReplyDeleteAh. I am greatly disappointed. :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully as you say the building will be used again. At the moment it looks like an interesting place for a photographer.
ReplyDeleteThe building made a good subject for some great photos.
