Piazza Damiano Chiesa

Public housing in “Piazza Damiano Chiesa”. The square is the gate to the quarter of Colline (Hills), just outside the old boundary of the Leopoldine Wall, now replaced by a six-lane street.A new florist kiosk has just been finished, replacing an old one.An unlucky tree stump, probably it will get some flowers soon...In the middle of the square we can see a monument to the memory of the victims of the Nazi death camps.A building with a “loggia” on the Northeast corner of the square.

  4. Public housing always seems to look massive, but at least yours is pink.

I'm glad we here confine such memorials to Yad Vashem.

Is that a reflection on the new flower kiosk or is it all of see-through glass?
Thanks for another interesting look at Livorno life.

  6. Les collines de Livorno, vraiment ? Nice bench to contemplate the arrival of flowers, even if you do have to turn around. The statue is gruesome, as was the Holocaust.

  7. The florist's kiosk has to be the most modern structure that I have yet seen in Livorno. The Nazi death camp sculpture got the grimness and terror right, I think. I like the building with the loggia, though it looks like it can stand some repairs.

  8. Nice shots. I hope the florist shop will do well and be a popular place.
(I still remember a marked in Senigallia ..... I got up and left the hotel really early to see how they put up the marked. It was wonderful.... all the colors, smells and sounds.... Exotic flowers..... Please send a photo from the florist shop one day!:)

  10. I am quite lazy, but to consider a real walk this one-minute tour around a square it's probably too much even for me...

  12. I really like the angle you shot both buildings.
I can't say the memorial to the victims of the Nazi death camps is outstanding, nevertheless it impresses me, as everything else on the subject always do.

  13. Poche persone come noi si soffermano ad ammirare gli angoli della propria città,angoli che offrono tanta di quella storia che arricchisce le nostre conoscenze
