Piero Neri

Tugboat Piero Neri (IMO 9351713), LivornoThis is the “Piero Neri”, the dancing tug of my “Lisbon Express” post, temporarily moored inside the “Porto Mediceo”.Tugboat Piero Neri (IMO 9351713), LivornoYou can easily see the massive bulk of the boat that usually looks deceptively tiny from afar, near even bigger ships.Tugboat Piero Neri (IMO 9351713), LivornoIn the last image the “Piero Neri” is escorting a ship, passing the lighthouse inside the “Curvilinea”. After seeing the “dancer”, I guess that a new dimension could be added to its numbers at sea...

    It should.

    Whatever. These things are quite massive in themselves, but you're right - when they're up against a large cruise ship they are literally dwarfed!

    I love these! In the top photo, the stacks look like dancing arms, very animated. And the size is quite something. The last photo is quite lyrical with the white stone lighthouse. So picturesque! Another great post all in all.

    First impression does make it look tiny. Thanks to your shots from various angles, I realized it's a HUGE vessel! Nice shots!

    I'm looking at the tiny people on the road and the lighthouse and wow, she definitely is not tiny. Deceptive against those huge, huge ships she tows!

    REally good photos and tugboats are so interestng. I'm almost tempted to recite the "Miss Susie Had A Tugboat" poem.

    Btw, the answer as to why the Mercer building has a square - in the original design, a neon light jutting out and reading "Mercer" was to have been suspended in the square. For some reason this didn't happen, and so the square remains as is.

    I don't make a difference between all the ships, but I can tell that your pictures are masterful - crystal clear blue and sharpness in harmony.

    Tugboats do look much smaller than they actually are. There's a kids' book most Canadians have read to them when very young that supports this idea.
