An ornate corner of a building on the Aurelia road, which crosses the suburb of Ardenza as “Via Mondolfi”.Same street and the quite original “portal” of Keloé, an artisan workshop specialized in signs and props. My friend Stefano pointed me to this star, right on the front of a house, still in Ardenza.
It's sort of like jewelry for buildings. Thank you for turning your eye (and our attention) this way, VP.
ReplyDeleteI like all of these ornamentations...we just don't have much of them in this country but I think they add a lot and make buildings much more interesting!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good time!
I have a soft spot for metal workers. I love the details in the enlargement.
ReplyDeleteI like each one. They are nice to look at and have interesting style.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice! I hope you're having a good time in London :)
ReplyDeleteI have a soft spot for stone carvers. Love the right side of the portal carving...enjoying your Italian version. I can try and see if I understand anything in my almost non-existant Italian. (but I have a 3-DVD Italian language course that I've been meaning to get to since 2004)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful carvings !!Loved the shot !!
ReplyDeleteI love these little details and I always stop to photograph them, being in Bucharest or when I'm traveling abroad. When I see something like the lady with the flowers I always wonder what made the architect come up with something like that. Was it just the need to beautify or maybe there's a different story, maybe he had a wife or a daughter that he wanted immortalized. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and artistic embellishments — I like them all!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful and safe vacation!
Each of them are nice.
ReplyDeleteBut I like the first photo most.
So lovely!
Beautiful shots! I love the star and the lady with the daisies :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ornaments, but that star really got my heart! It's so cute!
ReplyDeleteLéia :)
The imagination of some property owners who want to make their buildings look special! Love this, VP!
ReplyDeleteThe ornamentation on the corner must have been a heraldic family crest at one time? It is so finely crafted but is now plain.
ReplyDeleteWhen she has flowers in her hair - nothing can go wrong! Charming ornament!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful series - I love details. This time I can decide which one is my favourite!!!Maybe the star (thank you Stefano) - it's the most unusual.
ReplyDeleteNeat! I love the way everything is decorated in Italy.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is definitely the first one. Pity the signs are so modern on both sides.
ReplyDeleteI love that star, very interesting ornamentation!
ReplyDeleteAnother very cool set! The building corner is my favourite.
