Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoI still feel guilty about the trash post, so I'm going on posting something nicer, in this case the promised pictures I took on board the “Amerigo Vespucci”.Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoThe ship's motto “Not he who begins, but he who perseveres”, a quote from Leonardo da Vinci. Before the advent of the republic it was “Per la Patria e per il Re” (For King and Country).Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoA basic and quite old fashioned fire station.Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoThe decorations on the bow and the stern are plated in pure gold.Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoThe ornate lantern at the stern, just above the Captain's launch.Amerigo Vespucci training ship, LivornoAt last we have the Captain himself, on his balcony, perhaps smoking a cigarette...

This is one truly amazing vessel. Thanks so much for showing us the more intimate details!

In that first shot, I fear whatever it is that holds the ropes could be very dangerous to klutzes like me!

Wonderful details! Wish I could have a tour of the boat or better yet a ride out to sea in it!
Oh, those captains, one never knows what they will smoke!

Wonderful one, I like the first photo the most. It looks very neat, how they tide the rope.

Hey, I enjoyed the trash post - a city has many facets - we photograph what has been presented. Can't just concentrate on the lovely looking all the time.
This ship is beautiful and lovely photos, too.

Must be quite an honor to be chosen to serve on The Vespucci.

I met a photography friend today. His name is Kjell and he was upset about this and that,(including trash), and I told him to start a photo blog about his complains. Hopefully the responsible politicians will take notice. Nice details from the ship here, and a good quote as well.

Oh that first one! Brilliant, it should be a postcard. I was waiting for details and am not disappointed! Wonderful post. And of course, the motto is to be thought about.

These are beautiful photos! You shouldn't feel guilty for the trash post BTW - every town has two faces (some have three or four). It's interesting to see all of them, sometimes more interesting to see the ugly than the beautiful.

Gorgeous! You are making me fall in love with this ship. Me, who gets seasick every time, unless I stay on deck!

Fantastic details of the finest tall ship sailing the seas!

The Captain is maybe thinking how emulate the legendary Admiral Straulino leading this vessel!
