At First Sight

Inside the Porto Mediceo, LivornoWe have already seen that the port of Livorno suffers some days of cruise ships overcrowding. A giant new pier called “Molo Italia” has been already built, but it seems that it's not going to be fully operative for this season.Cruise ship, Porto Mediceo, LivornoIn a hurry, a pier of the former shipyard has been cleared of cranes and rails and, last week, received its first cruise ships.     The 3rd photo with the overall view is super. LOL on how you told the story and got back to the 1st photo. The passengers can salute the SAILOR on land.

    Thank you very much for your comment in Avignon in Photos regarding the Villeggiatura trilogy, much appreciated.

    Yes the two city names of Livorno and Montenero were clearly mentioned in the play.

    However I was told that since the performance was first given in Venice and meant for the public there, a certain spirit of Venice was present in Goldoni's mind when he wrote the play. Would you confirm this? I would be very happy to have your view on this.

    PS - yesterday's looney tunes ferry is amazing. I wonder if they pay royalties for using these characters?

    And regarding your last seagull shot, I'm pretty sure it's a juvenile seagull.

    Love this mini-series. That 3rd photo certainly give one an idea how big the ship is!

    But to come down the gangplank and look at that old trailer! Sheesh! Too funny. Maybe they should hang a big sign on it that says, "Welcome to Livorno!"

    I like the little trailer. Funny as can be. It IS good to hear that your cruise business is not slowing and that the town is making lots of changes to accomodate the ship traffic.

    It's funny how you described the first photo! And it's interesting to see the dock and how they are using it temporarily. Nice photo of the ramp, too! I'm enjoying learning about Livorno, as I've been to a few places nearby, but not to your city. When I return to Italy someday, I'm sure I have to visit!

    Dude, I like the camper. I do. But I need to know more about it. To heck with the super fancy, extra big cruise ship dock, the camper info is what I crave. LOL!
