Pietro Leopoldo was Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1765 to 1790 and then Holy Roman Emperor from 1790 to 1792. His monument, on the left of the church of San Jacopo in Acquaviva, is a work of the sculptor Andrea Pelliccia. It has now a new nice railing, decorated with a scooter.

The scooter would be his, of course. :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery emperor needs some transportation!
ReplyDeleteThere's no escaping for him now, with the new railing.
ReplyDeleteI find it kind of sad that he had to be caged. ;)
ReplyDeleteI suppose if things got too rough, or he got too tired he could hop on that scooter and go to a Starbucks for a cuppa coffee!
ReplyDeleteTypical Italian decoration! :)
ReplyDeleteHe's looking pretty important standing back there.
ReplyDeleteLol re the scooter decoration. The railing could be in Versailles. It looks really good!
ReplyDeleteGood to see it is being protected so well.
ReplyDeleteImpressive, and the railing doesn't detract from it.
ReplyDeleteHan fatto presto a parcheggiare lo scooter! Ciao, Arianna
ReplyDeleteHe does have a nice scooter.
