Just think, if Santa had to be on the road all night on Christmas Eve and miss the birth of his own son. Or, let's think what would come out if a hundred random people were given the white unfinished version and were asked to paint it. Glad you spotted that, Livorno Daily Photo!
That's certainly one of the strangest nativity scenes I've seen! But from the beginning (the church started to celebrate the birth of Jesus in the 4th century), Xmas was a combination of traditions so maybe this is the final evolution here! :)
Very funny. My partner's daughter set up a "creche" (nativity scene) at the foot of her Christmas tree this year for her 2-year old daughter but the characters there are no longer a baby Jesus surroundedd by Mary, Joseph, shepherds and 3 wise men but little fairies and elves. A non-religious 'creche' that left me bewildered. Why bother then? Better just have a Christmas tree and nothing else, don't you think?
Yeah, sort of gives short shrift to Joseph and Mary, huh? :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's weird.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, for sure.
ReplyDeleteA new interpretation of the Nativity.
ReplyDeleteCute family !

ReplyDeleteSo cute. The last two days have been very different from your more vehicle, seafaring posts. Lowell is right. Strange nativity scene!
