Trimming Palms

Pruning palm trees, Piazza del Municipio, Livorno
I do not like palms: the only kind of tree that I like even less is a trimmed palm tree.

My grandfather considered pruning trees an art of sorts, which he practiced skilfully, but I am not sure if he knew about palms...

  2. Palms mean places with soft breezes and warm nights. I also liked the palm before it was trimmed, but it will eventually grow back.

  3. It does look a little sad after the "haircut". Does this practice help keep the trees healthier?

  4. How interesting that you don't like palm trees. Since we don't have any here north of Toronto, I was always consider them exotic and often include them in memories of warm places i have visited. ;)

  5. Some palm trees I don't like, such as the ones we had around our pool at our old house in Ocala. They dropped black berries all around the pool and in the pool - what a mess and they had to be trimmed at least twice a year at some expense!

  6. Living in a land of palm trees, I see trimming going on all the time. I do however, see what you mean in this photo. The big full tree is much nicer looking than the trimmed one.

  11. They do look a bit weird, even stripped, after a severe trimming.
