I often think the same thing during a rainfall- go for the overhangs. Not that it keeps one dry.
Some of our "modern" buildings clearly didn't take keeping prospective customers dry a priority.

It interests me how many Italian streets have dates for names. In Rome earlier this year, my hotel was on Via IV Novembre.
