  1. Ouch! One can certainly understand and appreciate the cost and energy savings, but . . . surely there are more esthetically pleasing alternatives. :-)

  2. The old and the new just don't mesh.....

  3. This illustrates a dilemma about trying to be energy efficient and preserve the aesthetics. These days there are pretty effective LED chandelier-style light bulbs, but the city fathers probably don't want to bear the cost after paying for all of those ugly CFLs.

  4. I agree with Michelle that is just ugly.

  5. Ugh :(

It broke my heart when they switched to the ugly light given by energy saving bulbs in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

  7. A big and wonderful antique chandelier, but the new energy saving lamps ruin completely the atmosphere...

  8. I can understand the concern to conserve energy, but somehow the beauty of the chandelier has been decimated! Maybe it looks better when it is turned on?

  9. It badly mars the beauty of the chandelier.

  11. Oh... that's really a shame. The chandelier is beautiful, but those bulbs are awful. Certainly there's something better?

  14. I thought they were actual candles at first. I'd hate to have to run around and light em all.

  15. Hmmm. I think someone needs to rethink this project!

  16. Saving energy is always good but in this case it's also weird...
