In all these images the tug is assisting the 286-meter container ship “Rio de Janeiro”. Like almost every other tug of the Neri fleet, the “Fratelli Neri” has also fire fighting capabilities.

As always these are great VP.
ReplyDeleteVery workmanlike boats, those tugs. The scale against the freighter is quite formidable, though the Rio de Janeiro seems less massive than some ships I've seen in your blog.
ReplyDeleteAnother nice one. Big too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice and interesting posting.
ReplyDeleteI am really in awe of these little tugs assisting the giants.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, I suppose, for these workhorses to do double-duty.
ReplyDeleteSuper ships and super photos!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me that tiny tugs can be so useful to the HUGE freighters. ;)
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought as EG CameraGirl...
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures !
Terrific harbor photos. That tug looks right up to the minute with its bridge that looks both directions. I do enjoy seeing your photos of boats and ships.
ReplyDeleteSo small in comparison; yet so powerful.
ReplyDeleteSuch strong little things they are!
ReplyDeleteYou know how I love tugs!
ReplyDelete(And now I want to visit Hamburg again...)
These tug boats are very impressive and I know they are essential to the smooth operation of the shipping industry. Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteThe bottom shot is my favourite.
