The next time we will see these sponsons (watertight steel boxes) they will be fastened on the starboard side of the “Costa Concordia” to refloat the wreck.

Wonderful to see these close up, VP. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat should be fascinating to watch!
ReplyDeleteRaising the Costa Concordia is a remarkable engineering feat. You are lucky to be close enough to see some of the work.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be doing some good work then. Unlike, oh, the dolt who caused that screwup in the first place.
ReplyDeletePretty interesting equipment that probably requires hard work and precision.
ReplyDeleteThat going to be something to see.
ReplyDeleteThey are really impressive. I'd love to see how it's done.
ReplyDeleteAh, the feats of engineering.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tall load.
These are amazing. Thank you VP. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteThey are very big, impressive!
ReplyDeleteFirst I went to the picture of the wreck. Great photo! I'd more of less forgotten about this disaster thinking the ship had already been refloated.
ReplyDeleteThose sponsons are massive, but I'd guess that raising the ship is a massive job!
Ugh! That whole story just makes me sick. So sad that people died from that strange man's stupid mistakes. :(
ReplyDeleteImpressive ! :)
ReplyDeleteI would never have been able to work out what these are without the explanation. I'd imagined something to do with space. They are like batteries of rockets.
ReplyDeleteLive and learn.
