Theme Day: Entry

Mercato Centrale, Central Market seen from the Fosso Reale, Livorno
Our Mercato Centrale has several doors at street level and two ramps on the sides that descend into its underground storerooms. Another way to access the storage area is a gate at water level on the canal.

Only tourists on some boat tours now use this entrance, when they make a stop to visit the building.

  1. It looks a bit forbidding, VP. As though bodies were once shipped from there.

  2. This suits the theme nicely, VP, as it was the building featured on your "entry" into blogging, i.e., your first post.
