Maremma is a large area of south-western Tuscany whose ‘spirit’ the “Dagadà Spirito di Maremma” honors with her name. 42-year-old Simone Gesi crossed the Atlantic with this 6.50 meter sailboat, taking part in the 2011 Mini Transat 6.50, a solo transatlantic yacht race that started in La Rochelle (France), to end in Salvador de Bahia (Brazil), after 4000 miles, with only a stop in Funchal.

ReplyDeleteGood for a short day trip, but not for too long!
ReplyDeleteSolar power, I love it.
ReplyDeleteSome people, sailor people, are so brave.
ReplyDeleteThe French love organising 'transats' even if it has to be in nutshells. Actually, I wouldn't mind trying.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine doing something like that VP, they would need all that equipment for sure.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't do that for all the money in the world but I'll bet they had fun. Solar panels, that's amazing.
