MSC Orchestra

MSC Orchestra, IMO 9320099, port of Livorno
The “MSC Orchestra” sails every Sunday evening from Livorno for a seven day cruise in the Mediterranean, but on October 7 the departure was delayed until midnight after four crew members were diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Doctors distributed antibiotics to passengers; two of the four crew members are still in the Livorno hospital, while one of them died yesterday in intensive care. Last Sunday the ship came back and left as usual.

  1. Beautiful ship, but sad about the illness on board.

  2. They must have to be very careful with sanitation and hygiene with all the people squeezed onto the ship. When things go bad, it must get very scary.

  3. That is a sad story about the crewmen of this ship. Jack makes a good point about sanitation. Hopefully no passengers were exposed or came down with this illness.

  5. Sad. I hope all goes well for the crew members who are still in hospital.
The ship I have seen here in Stavanger, and she might be back next summer.
She is beautiful, and takes most of the harbor .....

  6. That's awful.
Maybe when you book a cruise they should give you your ticket along with a pack of prophylactic antibiotics?

  8. What a misfortune! I hope the rest of the crew was OK, and the passangers came back safely. I am not a fun of this means of travel, and surely I would have no fun at all after such a moment.
