“The Zahir” (El Zahir) is a short story by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The zahir is a frequent thought, an uncontrollable obsession that insinuates itself slowly in the mind until it comes to posses a person completely. (Picture taken on April 25th)

ReplyDeleteThis boat, the el zahir, must be the sailor's perfect passion!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is in for some nice quite time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the story on the boat's name. It is a great name. Sailing is a passion, and boats demand the attention of the sailor completely. My favorite time in a sailboat is turning the engine off and filling the sails with wind. The silence is overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI can see how this boat would become the owner's zahir.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they were going for a round the world trip. If so I wonder where they are today.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice day to be on the water. A good name for a boat too!
ReplyDeleteLove to read Borges.
