Armando Picchi, born in Livorno in 1935, was a renowned football player. He was the captain of the Grande Inter (Great Inter), the team that, in the 1960s, won three “scudetti” (national titles), two European Champions Cups and two Intercontinental Cups.
He died prematurely, from cancer, exactly forty years ago.
Our football stadium is named sfter him.

  1. Life is such a gift...reminders like the pre-mature death of a public figure sometime help us to cherish the moments we have.

  2. Tragic news of a talented, good looking guy dying too early! We hear too much about cancer these days...

  4. I hope your team is doing well VP. My favorite baseball team is not doing so well these days (Cincinnati Reds). Hope you have a nice weekend!

  6. I am not a football (soccer) fan and I barely watch the World Cup matches. This post was only a tribute to a great champion from another era, when football was still a sport and not a media product.

  10. Nice tribute. I'm not a soccer fan either and I can't agree more with you when you say football is just a media product nowadays. It's disgusting!
