Not only food at the fair: small wooden scoops and much more.An assortment of fancy clocks, doorstops (and cat tails).Handmade olive wood chess boards.
I am used to seeing olive wood used only for religious pieces. Your market has useful things. Maybe you could give these ideas to the olive wood people in Bethlehem.
I love olive wood whenever I see objects made of it, be it in Italy, Greece, Tunis or Turkey. Do you know those objects have to be rubbed from time to time with olive oil in order to maintain his nice aspect? At least I was told so by people in Tunis.
@ ciel - You are welcome! This kind of food fair takes place once a year, in October. @ Traveling Hawk - You are right, my dad used to work some olive wood as a hobby and often did the same thing. @ LindyLouMac - Once a year in mid-October.
Le scacchiere sono strepitose!!!

Magnificent post!!!
I don't play chess, but the boards looks great. I think you can keep the clocks.
ReplyDeleteActually, I would take all that I see. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I like wooden things. These are really nice.
ReplyDeleteMust have been great to smell. Another proof of how peaceful your city seems to be. Impressed. Please have a good Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteI love the woodwork! Now if only I knew how to play chess... :-D
ReplyDeleteOh my look at all those cute scoops. I just think they are so cute---or neat anyway. MB
ReplyDeleteJust what I need: a scoop for the sea salt. Tell me when the next fair is up and I'll consider a weekend in Livorno!

ReplyDeleteI would love to visit that fair sometime, a trip to Livorno maybe required. When does it take place, how often?
