Walking from “Piazza Damiano Chiesa” toward the “Salesiani”, we meet soon this unusual giraffe pattern chimney. The “Galliano Masini” park is sadly closed on Sunday. The “villetta” where the tenor once lived. This statue of the Virgin Mary and child, on the corner of the Salesiani's building, was a gift from the archbishop Felice Guerra, a name which is literally... Happy War!The Salesian movie theater showing some version of “Pinocchio”.
More Walks
I went to a Salesian school. I recognize the statue of the Virgen Mary as Maria Auxiliadora. We also had a similar looking theater in our school. Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteI like this particular walk — gives a very good sense of what it's like in the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI find it strange that a park would be closed on Sundays, when weekends are the perfect time for family and friends to go out together.
Ironic name for a someone who gave a religious gift.
How beautiful a walk. It would be of great joy to see the movies, as it is one of my favourite stories. Please have a good start into the weekend.

Very interesting. Beautiful park too. What a nice way to spend the day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us on the walk with you. I do like the /Giraffe chimney--long and tall.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that a park should be closed on a Sunday which could be Family day. MB
Love the giraffe neck chimney. And all the rest.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was Silesian:):):)
ReplyDeleteSalesian is definitely the better option - nice walk!
A park closed on a Sunday! What nonsense! That's when families have the time to stroll...! And Happy War!?! VP, what are you trying to do to me... :-D
ReplyDeletePS. Enjoyed the walk with you... of course. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy War? What an oxymoron! I too love the chimney.
ReplyDelete@ Francisca - If you enlarge the picture of the Virgin statue, the dedication plaque from archbishop Felice Guerra is almost readable...
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute chimney! You are right, the pattern looks the same of the reticulated giraffe, my favourite species. Also love the building corner with the Virgin Mary.
ReplyDeleteOh VP, I wasn't doubting you for a second. My humour must be too subtle... I mean you are killing me with TWO silly things in one day (the first being the park closure on a Sunday)... :-D ...Happy War is really more than silly, it is depressing anyone can think of it that way.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder where the name Felice Guerra comes from. The crusades?
ReplyDeleteThe chimney is great and I like the blue door of the tenor's house.
The way Virgin Mary is carrying her child looks kind of dangerous! But I love the giraffe-like chimney ;D
ReplyDeleteA delightful walk of the absurd.
ReplyDeleteI find the widows at the Salesiani building both interesting and pretty..... Nice shots!:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place for a long stroll indeed, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
