Yesterday, for once, I was not late getting to work, so I stopped in “Piazza Grande” to take a picture of the still lighted Christmas tree in front of the “Duomo”. But there is no tree, only the lights!New market stalls in “Via della Madonna” with a nice poker of cats.Boxes of colorful natural soap, for every skin or taste. Not far, a 65 euro Santa emerging from a chimney. Or is it a well?

Beautiful Christmas tree, and I do love the cats:)
ReplyDeleteChristmas Eve is the most important part of celebrations here in Poland and it's really special day for most of us. Let me wish you beautiful, relaxing and peaceful Christmas.
Buon Natale.
Ha! a hollow tree. It's a really nice photo though, with the tree and the symmetrical arches and the soft colors. Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Vogon. I can almost feel Christmas getting to me now. Have a wonderful one.
ReplyDeleteBuon Natale, cari 'blogger' amici.
ReplyDeleteThe plaza is so beautiful and festive - I like your statement about lights/no tree :D
Very pretty & interesting collection of pre-holiday photos.
Thank you for showing a decoration of beautiful light present.
ReplyDeletePlease have a wonderful Christmas!!
From the Far East.
Best regards.
The Christmas tree made only of lights looks great, and no messy pine needles to sweep up.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas. I hope Santa is good to you.
You have another wonderful collection of photos here. I love the soaps and colors and the rustic boxes. The first photo is magnificent! The tree is lovely and the sky, too. I love the quality of the lighting inside the arches. It almost looks unreal. The building is classically beautiful. What a great post!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Shot !!Have a Merry Christmas !!
ReplyDeleteSo nice and colorful! :-) Enjoy your holiday and have fun (with or without your camera)
ReplyDeleteI got a nice Italian xmas- cake from a friend in Stavanger and when I open it (Paluani-il Panettone Classico)) I promise to send some thoughts to Italy.:-)
Happy Christmas Eve Trillian and VP, The first shot is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletela prima foto mi piace moltissimo!
ReplyDeleteciao simona
I wish you love and laughter tomorrow, VP. Tomorrow and into the New Year.
ReplyDeleteIt like that tree of lights, and all the other wonderful little slices of life you treat us to throughout the year. Have a lovely holiday, VP and Trillian.
ReplyDeleteAt least the 'tree' lets you see the church through it. But I guess it's not very pretty during the day, is it?
ReplyDeleteThose soaps will stop me in my tracks, even if I were already late for work. I love handmade soaps — the makers' creativity when it comes to mixing scents, textures and properties is wonderful!
Oops, I almost forgot. In case I don't get to visit tomorrow (we have a big family reunion): have a blessed and joyful Christmas, Mr Poet and Trillian!
ReplyDeleteThe tree is lovely, even in half light. At night it must be magical. It is my hope that you have a lovely Christmas and a truly happy and peaceful 2010!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures dear friend, I love those cute "cats", I think you already know it! :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas !
Léia
Glad you stopped at the Piazza! The light is amazing!
ReplyDeleteAn unusual tree.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very merry Christmas and all the best for the year ahead.
Cheers.

I love the Christmas tree on the plaza - very pretty. If you need one of those inflatable Santa decorations, we can ship you one for a lot less than 65 euro!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a wonderful Christmas to you and your family!!
Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice holiday!
I especially like the Christmas tree in front of the cathedral! Cute cats and yummy soaps at the Christmas market!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours!
Beatiful tree (er...lights?) in front of an equally lovely building! I hope you have a wonderful christmas in livorno :D
ReplyDeleteBest wishes your a joyous holiday. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to see a North American Santa in Livorno!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, VP!
Gorgeous first shot.
ReplyDeleteInteresting phenomenon. Light decorations for a tree become a concept and take off on their own without a tree.
The tree at Piazzo Grande is so, so beautiful. I like the St. Nick, too. He looks a lot like the ones here in Florida. He does get around.
ReplyDeleteThank you, VP, for the many kind and interesting gifts of Livorno you have given me all year. Your city is fascinating and your photos and copy have been inspirational.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Great pictures but the top one is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteA different tree with just the lights, I like that. God Jul.
ReplyDeleteThe top photo is stunning - now that's what I call conserving trees - great idea.
ReplyDeleteAll these photos are lovely - beautiful colors.
Beautiful tree !! I wish you a merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteThat sky is is magical blue! The tree gives wonderful glow to the building. Are those the soaps that smell like berries? they are so tempting!
ReplyDelete:) Beautiful series, I like all of them. They are all cheerful and colorful, but the cats are my favorite. That Santa charges a lot for popping out of the well :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely treee, that first one! And all are beautiful!
