Sailors

    It's nice to be a sailor out on the open seas, but it can also be very lonely.

    These are great. The first one's fantastic. It looks like a piece of graphic art, rather than a photo. That guy is very "sailorish" too!

    I would guess that, although the service boats provide a necessary and important function, it can be a very dangerous job. Fuel is nothing to play with. Tends to go "Ka-boom!"

    Re: Domino's Pizza - not in Italy? Perhaps the owner was banned from Italy, although he is a far-right Roman Catholic. (He funds a number of right-wing causes in the US). In fact, near Naples, Florida, he has built a "Catholic" town for conservative Catholics with a conservative university called Ave Maria. He wanted to bar non-Catholics from his town, but the government said that was unconstitutional.

    Don't know who'd want to live there, though. And it appears things haven't progressed as rapidly as he thought they would.

    @ Jacob - Maybe, but there is an easier explanation, which applies even to the not-so-reactionary led Starbucks: we like our pizza and our coffee.

    Nice! I love the close-ups of what they're doing on the ships. I can't quite get the quality from the distance I have to shoot, but the tripod might help :) It's like looking into another world. Thanks for your post!

    I like the composition and colors of this photo. I agree with Jacob that servicing the big ships is probably a pretty dangerous job, but well paying.
