All of these clocks are on buildings facing “Viale Carducci”, the tree-lined avenue linking the railway station with the city center. The first image shows one of the four dials on the tower of the church of “
Sant'Andrea”, just opposite the “
Cisternone”.
At the other end of the “viale” we find the clock towering over the entrance of the main railway station, “
Livorno Centrale”.
About half-way we can see the clock of the former Pirelli factory, now a community center and part of the “
Parterre” park.
I love old clocks. This is a wonderful collection of them.
ReplyDeletethey are gorgeous. I can never get enought clock shots. I take it that the photos were taken at different times :) or are they on 'ferie' too?
ReplyDeleteTash is right, I forgot to say that the photos were taken at different times in two different days. Strangely all these clocks are perfectly working.
ReplyDeleteAs you know I like clocks very much - yours are terrific. I tried to decide which I like the most and well, difficult choice, but I think the first one. it's simple and the contrast is superb.
ReplyDeleteSo, I choose the middle one in colours of see :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a section of town with really good timing. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent ( x 3 )
ReplyDeleteI can´t make up my mind which one is my favorite. :-)
They are becoming relics of a bygone era. Seems like watches are declining in popularity these days with the increased use of cell phones.
ReplyDeleteLivorno seems to be a very time-conscious city — so many clocks in one street! Lovely collection, but I have to say that the one of the railway station is the most fascinating because of the ornate details.
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
They are all nice, but I think the last one is my fave. It's fancy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful face of the clock. I don't see many huge clocks out in the open from where I live. =)
ReplyDeleteMaybe no one in Livorno wears a wristwatch, so you need to have all these clocks for people to tell time...but how would you know when to get up to go to work?
ReplyDelete;-))
I really love clocks like this, too, and find them quite attractive!
The second one, Livorno Centrale. Is that the train station? It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh forget what I just said. I've got a headache, it's too hot for me! Don't discard the "gorgeous" bit though!
ReplyDeleteNice clocks! The first photo is stupendous, I love the colors and angle!
ReplyDeleteWonderful details! I love watching various kinds of clocks!
ReplyDeleteJacob's comment gave me an idea to suggest to you... Maybe in the next post you could put a picture of the church bells who wake the city up so that they get to work... :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
I like clocks - these are piece of art! They say wrist watch is now as obsolete as the record player and cassette player - I don't care - I like mine. I am a time freak - have to always know what time it is. Hate to be late. My hubby is opposite - does not posses a watch - says he always has his Blackberry - he is always late :)
ReplyDeleteIt must be wonderufl to walk down that street. The first image was so striking (no pun intended) with the contrast and the colors! And the old Pirelli factory must be a beautiful building. I'm vaguely remembering an early tire factor in Los Angeles (I grew up in a nearby town) that was built to look like something either pretty or very unusual, and now I can't remember. Anyway, this photo jogged my memory.
ReplyDeleteLove the collection of clocks. Fun and very colorful.
ReplyDeleteI like the Pirelli factory clock! Reminds me of one of those clock in the old western towns that mark shoot-offs!
ReplyDeleteI love clocks - this is a nice variety
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful set of beautiful clocks!
ReplyDeleteThese old clocks are historic...they last forever.
ReplyDeleteI love taking pictures of clocks. All three of these are great!
