Heavy rain interrupted my Sunday walk, so I decided to have my walk on Monday, in Pisa. As you can see from the first picture, Pisans are quite confused about their ancestry.
The poor fellows are so proud of their Leaning Tower that they placed these snazzy new signs everywhere.
They tried to add some sculptures to their world-famous tower, but luckily they gave up soon, after this.
Everything is leaning in Pisa, even the benches in “Via Corsica”.

ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. It's a great post. I love the coat of arms. It's very simple, yes? No explanations, no roaring lions, no idications of years. You're right, it's quite weird, but I like it. i also thing that any town with a rhinoceros on its cathedral can't be as bad as you say it is.

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful light! It would be interesting to know the iconography of the knives on the coat of arms. And the monkies are pretty cool. I wonder what they represent. Of course, the famous sculpture of Romulus & Remus. I think that one is a reproduction of the original unearthed centuries ago? Ah! Italy! Must be amazing to be born into such a culture with a long & fabulously rich culture. And, the sunlight anin't so bad either.
