I hope you'll forgive me if my walk was on Saturday afternoon this time, but the weather was so beautiful that we had to go out. These windows belong to an abandoned house in “Via delle Case Rosse” (Red Houses Street).
A welcoming door-bell in “Via dei Funaioli” (Ropemakers' Street), the dog says “Beware the dog” and the angels “Welcome”.
On the seafront promenade, strange lamps shaped like huge teeth.
In case of rough sea, I think that they could try something on land with those wheels.
Two nice small old-fashioned “cabine”, the rent for slightly bigger ones during the summer is about the same of an apartment.More Walks
Vogon, these are beautiful. Very nice walk. Love the windows and the teeth lamps. Really wonderful. The cabins are great.

ReplyDeleteYou can take me on your walks anytime...you always come up with a collection of interesting artifacts! What are those little boats used for? And the "cabines" - I feel stupid, but are they toilets or to change clothes in, or to hide from the police, or ?

For some reasons, shutters are an appealing subject. Doesn't matter if they're old or new. These are perfect!

ReplyDeleteAnother fascinating walk. I would have had lots of questions but you already answered two (about the little boats and the cabins). So I only have one more: is it normal for brick buildings to be plastered over and painted there?
ReplyDeleteThe contradictory messages around the doorbell is funny. And so are those huge teeth! (That's what I thought of immediately too.)
@ Hilda - Old brick building were always plastered. More recent ones usually use external bricks like tiles, only for decorative purpose.

Ah the Livornesi live the high life. Boating a week for the price of a manor in Brittany, spending hours in toilet like cabins that can be rented for the price of a flat...

Well that looks like a pleasant walk, with lots to look at. I love the photo of the dilapidated windows - the "teeth" though, are alarming! "Beware of the walkway lights". The 'cabine' are cute. Possibly a tight squeeze for a large person!

These are all fun photos, and they look nice, as always. The shutters in the first pic are my artistic choice, and the boats with wheels are very funny. I have no idea what the purpose is. Interesting info in the last one. The tiny blue beach "cabines" are so expensive!
