Moorish Mansion

Liberty villa, eclectic style, viale Italia, LivornoWhen I said “last turret” it was only in merely topographic terms, because there are still several villas to be seen on “Viale Italia”.Liberty villa, eclectic style, viale Italia, LivornoIt is definitely in Moorish style and, as any other villas in this place, it was built in the 1930s.Liberty villa, eclectic style, viale Italia, LivornoThe turret is quite elegant and the whole thing is perfectly kept.Liberty villa, eclectic style, viale Italia, LivornoI'm afraid you'll have to expect few more of these fancy buildings in the next days.

  1. Cars and cars. There should be a no-parking zone around delightful buildings.

  2. Please, more turrets! These are wonderful to look at. I especially like the angle of light in the first one - and the clouds.

  4. Yeah! I love seeing those villas! Couldn't you ring their doorbell and ask to go inside for coffee and a few photos for the Livorno Daily Photo blog?! I'm more than a little curious!

  8. They keep getting more dramatic. They are all wonderful, and the first shot is spectacular. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of them.

  12. This is mansion, isn't this?
We call every condominium mansion in my country.
    So I live in "mansion"!

  13. I think we can handle a few more fancy places, especially with that extraordinary light shining on them.

  14. Beautiful building. The palm was well chosen, it adds to the overall feel of the scene.

Was Moorish style a trend in 1930's Livorno?

  15. Bring them on! Especially if they're as gorgeous as the two you've just posted. The details are just fabulous.

  16. I thought surely Per Stromsjo would mention the "Swedish" colors!

A gorgeous place and you can keep posting pictures of such as long as you like - please!

This is a bit more ornate and "turreted" than our villa...do you think the owners might consider a trade?

  17. I like this one. Those keyhole windows are neat and the yellow is so cheery.

  18. It looks like they're using what we call "hurricane shutters". I must say, it's pretty clever the way that they've used them.

  22. @ Leif & Luis - Tomorrow's 'turret' is open to the public...

@ Tash - I don't know if the arabesques are real or fancy decorations...

  23. @ Andreea - May be in this block! The others are more conventional.

@ Jacob - I am now curious to see your villa, but Florida as location trumps poor Livorno every day!

  24. @ VP - Manana, mi amigo. Oops! Wrong language.

Oh well, that's about all I know in Spanish, too!

  27. Are you kidding? I love fancy buildings, not that I've ever lived in one. This one is great - look what blue shutters can do. Dramatic sky adds a lot to the atmosphere.

  28. Gotta love the colors! Those shutters are the perfect blue against the pastel yellow :)
