If you check on the left of the castle gate of “Villa Maria”, you can see this ornate building with these great balconies. It is an eye catching “palazzo” and in perfect condition.Even the front door has something special.
It's picture perfect. If I could design a building it would look a lot like this. (I hope the villa gets a benefector too to pay for a speedier restoration. I'd think the well-to-do neighbors would want to pitch in.)
Eye-catching is the word alright. WE don't have buildings like this here and it's always a pleasure to see them. (I'll have the top balcony please!) Cheers. Melbourne Daily Photo
The palette for this building is gorgeous, VP. This building has a touch of the Moors to it. Do you think?
I knew you would be hurrying me along to get to the boats and not waste time with preparations and people!! I will agree that boating can be a genre all its own!
Wow... it's almost Glasgow Style, as if Mackintosh had a hand in it somewhere! I think it's one of the neatest buildings I've ever seen. Just another reason to get to Livorno one day.
And as usual the most beautiful houses still have those bloody boring cars lined up in front of them. There should be some law against this!
ReplyDeleteReally a beautiful building, interesting and unusual!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
You've been hiding this gem from us. It's really outstanding! Nice, nice photos, too.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beatiful looking building, and a great doorway for a Wednesday too.

This one is very pretty - not as much as the fencing champion one, but very close! Looks like a doll castle!

ReplyDeleteAnd each floor is different!
ReplyDeleteImagine, walking through such a door every day.
BRAVO!!:-)

The front door is beautiful. I love this building - it's ornate but elegant. When was it built?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, this IS very nice. Any history to it?

ReplyDeleteBellissimo palazzo.

Except for the cars this could be a Shakespearean stage setting.

ReplyDelete@ joo - Other buildings in the same street date back to the early 1930's, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDelete@ Julie - It has definitely a Moorish touch.
The building is outstanding! Love the balconies and the door in the bottom photo is extremely beautiful to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best in 2010, VP!
Is that Venice in Livorno?
