This appears to be a very busy port. I can smell the salty air, really I can...even though I am very far from the coast here. I can hear the gulls too!

I'm guessing the gulls got some fish as well.

It might look ordinary to you but it looks exotic to me. Great essay for those of us who don't live near a big port.

The photo of the circling gulls and the boat is excellent.

I particularly admire that second shot. It's full of energy and drama.

I envy you for your port :) it always seems full with interesting photo opportunities. I second brattcat, the second one looks very dramatic.

That first pic is such an excellent composition - one of many on this blog! Of course, the subject matter is stirring, too. Pic number 2: I'v been giving this some thought lately. Our air is clear and we love to look at the ships. It was discouraging when I looked up how much pollution they expel. One of these days I may comment, but meanwhile, I enjoy them too much. At least here there's a lot of forest and ocean to absorb it. OK, I'm not a chemist, but I believe that's what happens. Again, beautiful, beautiful fishing boat and photo. I've never seen quite that apparatus on the back, or I don't remember it, anyway.

@ tapirgal - Don't worry about the smoke, it was only a moment and I was lucky to catch it! You don't usually see any of this...

Three excellent shots. The first one looks like Brittany!

Eco-friendly vehicles are exempt from our congestion taxes. Boats of course are an entirely different story.

Those smoking things can be in one of those ads against the greenhouse gases - they would just put a polar bear over it to scare the people. I really like the picture - looks like abstract piece of art.

Love your sea and harbor photos - the funnels in the middle are wonderful.

The first shot, especially, is magnificent!

I like the abstract quality of the second photo. Cool smoke stacks. And the first one is really great!
