Rats and Palm Trees

Climbing rats, palm trees, piazza del Municipio, LivornoSomething strange is happening around the palm trees in “Piazza del Municipio” (Town Hall Square). Their base has ben taped off and a section of the trunk shows a sort of wide bandage.Climbing rats, palm trees, piazza del Municipio, LivornoThe mystery is solved if you look closer: two mouse traps are waiting for rodents. It seems that some daring rats climb the trunk in search of food: not a welcoming sight for the busloads of cruise tourists stopping nearby.

These traps may attract bad karma by killing lives

i feel sorry for rodents :(

The tourists will never notice the mouse traps! :-) Here the problem is more serious: a foreign beetle is killing palm trees, it feeds on the interior of the trunk and you don't notice it until the tree is dead.

Those pesky rats are everywhere VP I'm sure tourists will see them wherever they go in the world. I have some benches you may like tomorrow!

Over here there's this beetle as well. Most trees have already been cut. Rats appear usually after sundown, at least at the beach. Please have a good weekend.

Interesting. I wonder if they got complaints from the tourists?
